Strangest Genius |
The Irish Book Awards took place on Thursday 25th November in Dublin, and The History Press Ireland title, Strangest Genius, was runner-up in the Best Irish-Published Book of the Year category. Strangest Genius covers the life of arguably the greatest stained glass artist in Irish history. Coverage of the ceremony and shortlist was quite high profile, featuring throughout the month on radio and television, and during prime time news. The Guest of Honour on the night was the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, who spoke about the strength in depth within the industry, and that the preservation of core strengths, and the need for creativity and innovation that were such a feature of publishing could act as a mirror for the wider economy as it comes out of a turbulent time.
Congratulations to authors Lucy Costigan, Michael Cullen and The History Press Ireland!
