First inscription:
Mavourneen is going from me and from you.
Where Mary will fold him in mantle of blue!
A Cradle Song by Padraic Colum

In the first section a young woman hugs her dead baby to her chest. An inset of Mary and the baby Jesus is above her.

Second inscription:
It's the pleasure and diversion of the world you'll hear and see in them Magic Glasses.
The Magic Glasses by George Fitzmaurice

This colourful, whimsical section is in sharp contrast to the pain and desolation of the first. The glasses give Jaymony the power to escape from a humdrum life into a world of fantasy where he can possess great riches, women and renown.
